Patmos is one of the northernmost islands of the Dodecanese complex. According to a legend in Greek mythology, Patmos was the island of goddess Artemis. Today, is well known as the “Island of the apocalypse” because Saint John the Divine was inspired to write the Book of the Apocalypse inside a cave. There’s also a large monastery dedicated to Saint John above Chora, the island’s capital. Thousands of pilgrims come to Patmos every year to visit these two religious monuments. Upon arrival local guide will take guests to the Cave and monastery for their tour.
